Controls and shortcuts
There are two places to control the extension: the toolbar icon, which switches filtering on or off for the site you are looking at, and the prompt that appears when a pop-up has been held back.
The toolbar icon
Clicking the icon toggles filtering for the site in the active tab. There is no menu to open — one click is the whole interaction.

| Full colour | Filtering is on for this site. Click to turn it off; the site is added to your allowed list and the page reloads so the change applies immediately. |
| Greyed out | You have allowed this site, so nothing is filtered on it. Click again to remove it from the allowed list and resume filtering. |
Your allowed list is stored on your device and applies per site, so turning filtering off for one site leaves every other site untouched.
The pop-up prompt
When a page tries to open a pop-up, pop-under or redirect, the window is held back and a small prompt appears in the corner of the page naming the destination. From it you can let the pop-up through once, open it in a background tab so it does not take you away from what you are reading, or trust the site permanently so its pop-ups open without asking again. Dismiss the prompt and nothing opens.
Keyboard shortcuts
While the prompt is on screen, each choice has a key.

On macOS use Control + Option in place of Alt + Shift. These keys belong to the prompt itself, so there is nothing to reassign at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
